Join Calvert students around the world in our Read Across America event!
Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Each year schools and libraries throughout the country participate in this event.
This year, Calvert will sponsor a nationwide Read Across America event. Our theme for this event is

We are challenging all Calvert students to help us have the largest event in the nation!
Here’s How!
Calvert has developed a Ning Social Network just for this event! Families can now sign-up free of charge at http://read.calvertschool.org where they may upload videos and photos, interact with other Calvert families from around the world, share insights and knowledge (as well as what they are reading), watch live streaming video, and more!
- Select a book from the state booklist (http://read.calvertschool.org/ page/book-list). These books are either about your state or written by an author in your state.
- Click on the “My Page” tab, and enter the book you read into the “What did you read today” box.
- You may share something about your book and your state with Calvert kids across
- Log on to http://read.calvertschool.org click on Live Video, and listen to Calvert staff reading their favorite
- Log on to http://read.calvertschool.org and view a film montage of some of
- Join Calvert Interactive students throughout the country in their online classroom as they read books from their states and share stories via Power Point Presentations.
